QotD: Interpret

“If we do nothing with the knowledge we gain, then we have wasted our study. Books can store information better than we can–what we we do that books cannot is interpret. So if one is not going to draw conclusions, then one might as well just leave the information in the texts.”
-Jasnah Kholin, The Way of Kings

Knowledge is meant to be used. Very few of us have minds like Sherlock Holmes or Sheldon Cooper, that remember everything. But the things is, we don’t need minds like that. The quote says it. Books store information better than us. And the internet pretty much contains all information. But that doesn’t mind our minds can be outsourced. That doesn’t make schooling redundant and a waste of time. What we can do that computers can’t is feel. We can connect. We can innovate. And we are invaluable because of it.
