“I killed them. Every single one of them. And not just the men. But the women. And the children too. They’re like animals. And I slaughtered them like animals. I HATE THEM.”
-Anakin Skywalker, Attack of the Clones
Been a long time, I know. But it was recently May the 4th be with you, followed by Revenge of the 5th/6th. And then a few weeks ago, The Rise of Skywalker title was announced, along with that awesome Papatine laugh in the trailer. So I’ve had Sith on my mind.
I know I’ve talked before about parallels. I like making parallels between stories and real life. I also really like making parallels between the stories themselves, and there are so many parallels that can be make all across the Star Wars saga.
I think most people thought this quote was ridiculous and overacted when Anakin said it about the Sand People in Attack of the Clones. And yet we also simultaneously say he turned to the Dark Side way too quickly in Revenge of the Sith. But wow. Overlay that quote on his destruction of the Jedi Temple and it all takes on a new level of hurt.
Anakin his always allowed himself to hate for the sake of love.
