Luke’s death has made me cry all four times I have watched it. I absolutely love parallels. And watching Luke stare into his own twin suns of Tatooine as he fades into the Force brought up all the emotions of the original “Star Wars” movie. I won’t speak for anyone else, but it forcibly reminded me that this old and worn Jedi Master was the farm boy from Tatooine we all fell in love with.
As I was watching it this last time, and thinking those thoughts, “Oh Ani, you’ll always be that little boy I knew on Tatooine!” crossed my mind. I know that is a line that hurt poor Anakin’s pride, but from an overarching perspective, it is a line that reminded me of the two boys –a slave and a farmer– we fell in love with from Tatooine. The two boys who faced the galaxy, lost their way, and then came back home.
Their stories have ended but not our love.
And now we have a chance to get to know and love the Scavenger from Jakku.
